It’s estimated that 7.5 to 9.0 percent of U.S. children have Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder, or ADHD, a complex mental health disorder characterized by inattention and/or hyperactivity and impulsivity.
Life for these children can be difficult, filled with interpersonal, social, and academic challenges. As the father of two children with ADHD, and as someone who has dealt with ADHD in his own life since childhood, I know firsthand the hardships and heartaches that accompany this condition.
In 2006, I decided to do something to help the millions of students struggling with ADHD. Having seen the benefits of personal coaching in my own life and those of my children, I realized coaching was an incredibly effective intervention and an important part of a multi-prong ADHD treatment approach. Thus was born the Edge Foundation, an organization committed to providing professional coaches for students with ADHD to help them realize their potential and their passion, and to become tomorrow’s leaders and innovators.
